| Announcing the NEW YDPN Steering Committee |

The YDPN recently hosted an Orientation to the Steering Committee for potential Steering Committee applicants. This is an exciting growth for the YDPN. Previously, the YDPN struggled to grow and maintain its Steering Committee. Over the past two years, the YDPN has intentionally sought to strengthen and build the leadership of its Steering Committee members through skill development, capacity building, targeted outreach, and creating clear roles and responsibilities for its members. This intentionality has led to a system that ensures Steering Committee members are able to make informed decisions about the direction and outcomes of the YDPN. This led to a change in how the YDPN recruits its Steering Committee members. Previously, anyone could apply to be a Steering Committee member. To make sure Steering Committee members have a working knowledge about the YDPN, a decision was made to ask only YDPNers who have taken a leadership role within the YDPN's programs and projects to apply for the Steering Committee. Using this strategy, the YDPN received six applications from youth workers representing very different communities within the field of youth development. Steering Committee members voted on each application. And we are happy and excited to announce that we have accepted ALL SIX applicants. So...we would like to officially welcome the NEW Steering Committee Members. They are:
